Participant Experiences

Reviews from Malaysians who attended Glenmark programmes between April and May 2025.

Faridah Hamdan

Shah Alam · 12-Month Programme

"I had tried reading about emergency funds on my own but kept getting confused by all the product recommendations mixed in. The six-week programme gave me a clean framework without any of that noise. The workbook is still on my kitchen counter."

Lim Wei Jian

Petaling Jaya · Quiet Reservoir Workshop

"The one-day workshop was well-paced. The facilitator explained concepts clearly and did not rush us toward any conclusion. My main takeaway was understanding why a 3-to-6-month figure gets discussed so often — and what it actually means for a household like mine."

Rajes Thangaraj

Subang Jaya · Steady Foundations Cohort

"I joined the cohort specifically because it was designed for people my age. At 53, my household situation is more complicated — we have a grown child, an ageing parent, and different income sources. The discussions stayed relevant to those realities. The peer forum was genuinely useful too."

Nur Khalida Yusoff

Klang · 12-Month Programme

"Before this programme, my husband and I had very different ideas about what an 'emergency fund' meant. The household conversation prompts in the workbook actually helped us talk through our differences without it becoming an argument. That alone was worth the fee."

Aaron Loh

Kuala Lumpur · Quiet Reservoir Workshop

"It was a full day and I was not sure I could stay focused, but the small group format helped. We had maybe twelve people in the room and the facilitator managed questions really well. I left with a clearer picture of what I needed to think through at home. Slightly wish there was a workbook for the workshop too."

Priya Muthusamy

Puchong · Steady Foundations Cohort

"The printed reader is thorough without being overwhelming. I appreciated that there were no product names or brand recommendations anywhere — just clear explanations of categories and concepts. I've since booked a session with a licensed planner and felt much more prepared going in."

Participant Journeys

Longer accounts from three participants who completed Glenmark programmes and applied what they learned.

Starting Point

Haslinda, a teacher in Ampang, knew she should have a reserve fund but had been putting it off for three years. Every article she found either gave different numbers or tried to sell her an investment product before she felt ready.

The Programme

She joined the Twelve-Month Reserves Programme. By week three, she had a working definition of what her household reserve target should look like. By week five, she had a month-by-month pacing framework written down for the first time.

Where She Is Now

Seven months after completing the programme, Haslinda is at the midpoint of her 12-month accumulation plan. She says the process feels "boring in exactly the right way — steady and predictable."

"The programme didn't tell me what to do with my money. It gave me the thinking tools to figure that out myself."

Starting Point

Suresh and his wife, both in their late forties and based in Kajang, had never spoken about reserves as a household topic. They had separate savings accounts but no shared framework or shared timeline.

The Programme

Suresh joined the Steady Foundations Cohort. He brought the household conversation prompts home and used them with his wife across four evenings during the programme. The conversations surfaced different assumptions about what "enough" looked like.

Where He Is Now

He and his wife now have an agreed household target and have booked a session with a licensed financial planner — something they say felt too daunting to do before they had shared understanding of the concepts involved.

"The prompts helped us have a conversation we'd been avoiding for years."
